January Reads! + Writerly Recs

 
 

         January is ending.

        WHAT?!?!?







           I did read a lot more books than I thought I would this month, I'd like to thank goodreads for their challenge that has motivated me!


 

 
 



 
       And since this is a writing blog, I'd thought I'd plug two of my favorite writing craft books for y'all!
 
 
         Seize the Story by Victoria Hanley and Writing Magic by Gail Carson Levine.

        




       
        I've seen a lot of readers/writers talking about how they read a craft book that had bad language, smut, and just general inappropriate content, which, I mean, what in the world?! WHY?!? NOT THE CRAFT BOOKS.

        So I just want to clarify that these two books are perfectly clean and innocent, hopefully by now most of y'all know that I would never recommend something that wasn't perfectly clean without telling y'all, so yeah. 100% clean and super helpful.
 

 
        Anyways, that was my book haul/January reads update, the first one I've ever done on here, so, yay!

We Need Ratings for Books

Guys, I wish books had ratings like movies did. Now, I can see someone commenting down below something along the lines of, " But Graayyyyy , they do have ratings!! You have jfict books written for twelve and below, YA written for teens, and NA written for a more college-aged audience, and then just Adult fiction written for, well, either advanced readers or older readerssssssssssss!!!!" But the thing is, one can go to blockbuster (okay, maybe not anymore, but I have to bring back that nostalgia *sighs* the good old days that weren't actually that good but I remember them in a golden filter for some reason), ANYWAYS , people could go to a certain section of the genre of the type of movie they wanted to see, but every movie in that genre also has a  s e p a r a t e   rating. For example, if I go to the horror section and pick up Signs , I can turn it to the back and see that it is rated PG-13 for some more intense moments. Then if I pick up let's say Along Came a...

Just popping in to say....

Happy fourth of July!! If you're an American I hope you have a great day of celebrating the freedom of this amazing country, and if you're not American I still hope you have a great day! I thought I had to stay home today because of burns on my arms and legs and it's too hot to wear pants outside right now, but luckily I got fewer burns than I thought on my legs so I can pass with band-aids. I've been reading about the American Government for school, and America is such a complex country, I firmly believe America is one of the best countries ever, sure we have our fair share of #issues, but I hope we can come together soon and become a strong and diverse nation. So happy fourth, y'all!  And here's a video from Studio C that never fails to make me laugh:
